The person in this position provides dual, but separate services in English or Spanish as appropriate, for child victims of crime and their non-offending family members. As a Forensic Interviewer, this person conducts developmentally- and age-appropriate interviews of children who are alleged victims of sexual and/or physical abuse or witnesses to violent crimes as requested by law enforcement, child protective services, or the prosecuting attorney. When not conducting Forensic Interviews, the person in this position will be cross-trained as a Child & Family Advocate making appropriate referrals for services for abuse victims and non-offending family members. Data entry, consulting with members of our multidisciplinary team, participating in case review team meetings, testifying in court, and attending in-house and off-site trainings are routine duties. On-call evening and weekend hours will be required occasionally.
Duties:
- Participate in multidisciplinary team case review meetings;
- Cultivate communication, collaboration, and cooperation among all CAC staff and partner agency members;
- Compile, complete, or review statistical reports, client and tt`MDT survey data, and other information;
- Maintain strict confidentiality and cross-cultural awareness in the performance of all duties;
- Attend local, out-of-town, or overnight specialized training and peer review meetings as needed to stay current on best practices and abuse-intervention trends;
- Adhere to professional ethics and standards in the performance of all duties;
- Participate in community awareness events and abuse prevention presentations when assigned;
- Data entry, filing, answering phones, and general office duties;
- Other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Executive Director
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in child development, psychology, social work, or related field. Forensic interview training and experience within a Children’s Advocacy Center setting is preferred but will train the right candidate. Knowledge of child development, memory and trauma, and linguistics a plus. Must be able to relate and communicate well with children and adults of diverse ages, races, and backgrounds; possess a basic knowledge of child protection and legal systems, and have excellent communication and mediation skills. Must work well with co-workers and multidisciplinary team members, be detail oriented with excellent computer and data-entry skills. Must read, write, and speak fluent, grammatically correct Spanish and English. Must pass a thorough criminal background check and be available to travel out-of-town for training, other work-related purposes, and between Longview and Marshall offices.
